Following the renewal of the exclusive Premier League license for EA Sports last week, Bundesliga today also announced it had agreed a new exclusive deal with EA.
EA Sports Bundesliga Contract
Today Bundesliga announced a new, exclusive contract with EA Sports.
The previous licensed held by EA was due to run out after the 2014-15 season, but EA managed to once again outbid Konami for the 2015-16 to 2017-18 contract.
This means we won't be able to see a full Bundesliga in Pro Evolution Soccer until at least 2018-19. As the German Football Players Association is not part of the global FIFPro association, which sells unexclusive licenses for player likenesses to both EA and Konami, it will not be possible for Konami to include 'fake teams' as they do for Premier League.
Konami, though, is able to sign up to three German Bundesliga teams on individual contract and will continue to do this with PES 2015, where the three teams will again be Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern München and Schalke 04.
The second biggest German team, Borussia Dortmund, is unfortunately contracted exclusively to EA and it's therefore not possible for Konami to add them.
Premier League EA Sports Exclusive Deal
EA Sports signed a new contract with Premier League until the end of the 2018-19 season.
The new contract includes an extension of the contract. FIFA will from now on include all Premier League stadiums, and also sponsor the new goal line technology.
As for Bundesliga, Konami are able to sign teams individually, but due to many team contracts with EA they only managed to include Manchester United as single team in the last years.
On a positive note, Konami was able to keep hold of the Brazilian teams' licenses for PES 2015, whereas EA had to announce FIFA 15 would not include any of the Brazilian teams. This was confirmed by Brand Manager Adam Bhatti.
